Looking after a vehicle properly is not just a matter of an oil change every 10,000 km. Many other points need checking regularly.
Servicing every 10,000 km / 8 months
- Change the engine oil
- Change the oil filter
- Change the pollen filter (cabin filter): every 10,000 km in urban areas and 25,000 km in rural areas
- Check the brake discs and pads
- Check the battery's condition without disconnecting it on a recent car, as the immobiliser could otherwise leave the vehicle stranded.
Servicing every 30,000 km / 2 years
- Drain the coolant and check the circuit
- Bleed the brake fluid and check the circuit
- Lubricate the door locks
- Check the timing and accessory belts
- Inspect the exhaust (rust and leaks)
- Check the gearbox oil level
- Inspection of CV joint boots
- Inspection of driveshaft boots
- Check the engine hoses and replace them if they are cracked.
Servicing every 60,000 km / 3 years
- Change the spark plugs on petrol engines
- Change the fuel filter on diesel engines
- Change the timing belt and accessory belt
- Check the power steering fluid
- Air filter replacement
- Automatic gearbox oil change
Servicing every 100,000 km
- Replacing the timing kit is strongly recommended (it is vital for your engine)
- Inspect and replace shock absorbers if needed
- Check the airbags
